Seoul

Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is a huge metropolis where modern skyscrapers, high-tech subways and pop culture meet Buddhist temples, palaces and street markets. Notable attractions include futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a convention hall with curving architecture and a rooftop park; Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Jogyesa Temple, site of ancient locust and pine trees. It is also a city of palaces, with five huge palace complexes located throughout the city. It is also known for its food, with a mouthwatering array of street food, Korean specialties like barbecue, and fine-dining options.

Buyeo

Buyeo County is a county in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. Buyeo-eup, the county's capital, was the site of the capital of Baekje from 538-660 AD, during which it was called Sabi Fortress. Famous people associated with Buyeo County in more recent times include noted stem-cell researcher Hwang Woo-suk. Get out of the big Korean cities and see more cultural, historic, and natural sights that will entertain and educate you - all the interesting things to do in Buyeo, a UNESCO World Heritage City located in western Korea. There are ancient temples, fortresses, shrines, and other monuments to explore.

Jeonju

Jeonju is a city in western South Korea. It’s known for the Jeonju Hanok Heritage Village, an area of traditional houses, craft shops and food stalls. In the village, the 15th-century Gyeonggijeon Shrine has portraits of former kings. Jeonju Korean Traditional Wine Museum demonstrates the making of local rice wines. Omokdae and Imokdae are centuries-old hilltop pavilions with sweeping views. It is known for its traditional architecture, culture, and cuisine. Tourists can explore the Jeonju Hanok Village, the cultural heart of the city where visitors can stay in traditional Korean guesthouses and experience traditional Korean food culture. A Creative City of Gastronomy designated by UNESCO, Jeonju is a town of “taste” and “style” full of heritage of tradition, culture and arts.

Gwangju

Gwangju, Korea's sixth-largest city, is defined by its powerful political history and reverence for creativity. It is the home of the global art exhibition, the Gwanju Biennale, and is an art town with numerous cultural heritage scatteres throughout the city. Gwangju has been reborn as a cultural capital of Korea and a cultural hub of Asia, hosting the Gwangju Biennale and Design Biennale, a world-class festival in the field of contemporary art and design. It has many popular attractions, including 1913 Songjeong Station Market, Mudeungsan Mountain, The Gwangju Ecological Lake Park, making it well worth a visit.

Suncheonman Bay National Garden

Suncheonman Bay National Garden was established to help protect Suncheonman Bay. The garden is home to over 790,000 trees in 505 species and 3.15 million flowers in 113 species. The numerous groups of tulips and royal azaleas are truly a sight to see. In addition, the nearby field of canola flowers in full bloom in May creates a beautiful yellow "wave" of color. Although there are restaurants within the garden, bringing in food is allowed, making the garden a great location for a picnic in the shade of the trees. After exploring the garden, visitors can hop on the unmanned shuttle train (PRT) and ride to Suncheon Literature Center, and then transfer to the Reed Trolley to pass the 1.2-kilometer stretch of reeds to Mujingyo Bridge.

Yeosu Maritime Cable Car

Yeosu Maritime Cable Car is the first of its kind in Korea, connecting Dolsan Island and the mainland over the ocean. Yeosu is a beautiful city with stunning views. With a dazzling blue sea surrounded by green landscapes and mountains. Connecting the mainland of Yeosu to one of its numerous islands, the Yeosu maritime cable car is a recent attraction and the first of its kind in South Korea! It floats over Dadohae Marine National Park, one of Korea’s most superb natural landscapes made up of many small islets. The floor of the crystal cable cars is made of glass, enabling you to enjoy the view of the turquoise water and wooded islands of one of the most beautiful seaside scenery in the country with the feeling of floating in mid-air between the sea and sky.

Busan

Busan is South Korea's second-largest city and largest seaport and enjoys four distinct seasons and a temperate climate that never gets too hot or too cold. Busan is known for its beaches, hot springs, nature reserves, and events.

Jeju

Jeju is officially recognised by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site, Global Geopark and Biosphere Reserve, encompassing Korea's highest peak of Hallasan Mountain, the vast forested swathes of a semi-tropical national park, a wild coastline and the world's longest underground lava tube. It provides various magnificent landscapes from alpine plants of Mount Hallasan to colorful soft temperate corals under the sea.

Gyeongju

The Gyeongju Historic Areas contain a remarkable concentration of outstanding examples of Korean Buddhist art, in the form of sculptures, reliefs, pagodas, and the remains of temples and palaces from the flowering culture of Silla dynasty, in particular between the 7th and 10th century. It is known as “the museum without walls” because of the vast number of cultural properties and archaeological sites of the city.

Daegu

Daegu is one of the largest cities in South Korea, and coupled with its rich and ancient culture, it has a number of scenic attractions and beautiful mountains. Historically known for being the traditional court music centre during the Joseon Dynasty, Daegu is also responsible for first introducing Western music to Korea, as well as hosting the country's first piano performance. Korea’s balance of old traditions and contemporary culture has made it a popular destination with visitors around the world. Daegu, in particular, has a special place in Korean history. The city is full of cultural assets represented by 13 UNESCO World Heritage Sites boasting the traditional beauty of Korea.

Haeinsa Temple

Haeinsa is a head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Seon Buddhism in Gayasan National Park, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Haeinsa is most notable for being the home of the Tripitaka Koreana, the whole of the Buddhist Scriptures carved onto 81,350 wooden printing blocks, which it has housed since 1398.

Andong

Literally meaning ‘peaceful land in the east,’ Andong is well known as a place of respect and courtesy. It is situated in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula which is the capital city of North. It is also called “the capital of Korean spirit”, in Gyeongsangbuk-do is famous for a number of things including wooden masks, a spicy chicken dish called jimdak, the Andong Hahoe Village, and the Andong Mask Dance Festival to name a few. Andong is nestled in the bosom of the Baekdu Mountain Range, with Mt. Sobaek and Mt. Taebaek on both sides; the Nakdong River, the longest of its kinds in Korea, flows through it. Blessed with a beautiful and bountiful environment, Andong has a typical inland climate with four distinct seasons.

Pyeongchang

Pyeongchang is a county in Gangwon Province, South Korea. It’s known for Odaesan National Park, with trails crisscrossing the Taebaek Mountains. The park is also home to several Buddhist temples, including Woljeongsa Temple, with its 9-story octagonal pagoda. Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village explores the life of early-20th-century poet Lee Hyo-seok. On the Heungjeong Valley bank are the 7 themed gardens of Herbnara Farm.

Gangneung

Mt. Sorak

Seoraksan is the highest mountain in the Taebaek mountain range in the Gangwon Province in eastern South Korea. It is located in a national park near the city of Sokcho. After the Hallasan volcano on Jeju Island and Jirisan in the south, Seoraksan is the third highest mountain in South Korea. It is composed of dissected granite and gneiss, with rocky hills and ridges. Mount Sorak is the third highest mountain in the country, with the main peak (Daechung) at 1,708 meters above sea level.
